The west coast of Koh Samui island hides the relatively remote beach of Lipa Noi, a tropical sanctuary far from the hustle and bustle of the usual tourist hubs. Secluded, rock-free, and gorgeous white sand are the combined qualities possessed by Lipa Noi, making it a beach destination unlike any other. It is undoubtedly one of the most immaculate beaches on the island and deserving of a spot in the top beaches of Koh Samui.

Visitors will enjoy a three-kilometer coastline of superb fine sand and calm crystalline water. The waves are without depth, extending for about a hundred meters from the shore. Lipa Noi is also the only beach in the area with open water that is also free from rocks and corals. These combined features make it the most child-friendly beach in the island and an ideal location for sailboarding and kayaking.

How to get there

Lipa Noi beach is a 45-minute drive from Samui Airport, depending on the traffic condition. Though it is less visited than the more popular areas such as Chaweng and Bophut, many accommodations in Lipa Noi come with complimentary transfers from the airport as well as car or van rentals. The place is also convenient for those arriving by car as the island’s ferry port is just nearby.

Experience Local

Not only does Lipa Noi propose a quiet beach getaway, the road going here will give visitors the chance to see the charming rural landscape of the island and discover why Koh Samui is beloved for having a laid-back island village atmosphere. A well-maintained road that circles around the island will lead you to picturesque hills covered with lush vegetation and rows of coconut plantation- excellent if you are looking for an authentic native feel.

Nature and Wildlife Activities

Nature-lovers will be delighted to know that some of the many waterfalls in Koh Samui, namely Lat Wanorn and Na Muang, can be found around the Lipa Noi area. Meanwhile, Major Safari Tour offers a 4×4 off-road adventure for the whole family. Wildlife enthusiasts are sure to take pleasure in animal and bird-feeding at Paradise Park Farm. Located at Pom Mountain, the highest one on the island, a hilltop pool, and a breath-taking view will greet you after a worthy climb. Further up the peak lies the Secret Buddha Garden, a park with an array of fascinating Buddha statues and animal stone sculptures.

Lipa Noi also faces the Ang Thong National Marine Park (translated as “Golden” Basin”) and you may opt to include cruising to the nearby islands in your travel itinerary. Guests can also enjoy a tour of hiking, sightseeing in a forest full of wildlife, beach-lounging, diving, and snorkeling among countless other activities.

Ornamenting the place are selections of Chinese and Thai motifs, statues, and various artworks around Asia. A stream that leads to a charming gazebo also highlights the place. A workshop that displays traditional Thai clothing can also be discovered at the far end of the cultural center.

For a more spiritual experience, enthusiasts can also visit the temple of Wat Samuthra Ram. This magnificent Thai Buddhist temple is found just near Nathon town, where the ferry terminal is located.
