One of the major and longest running annual events in Phuket, Laguna Phuket Marathon will be back again on 7 June 2015 at Laguna Phuket in Cherngtalay. The sporting event will feature from a fun kids run to a serious marathon featuring a distance of over 40 km.
The main attraction of Laguna Phuket Marathon is a scenic coastal course, passing through Thai village market, rubber plantation and switch to beautiful beaches of Phuket and sea, then suddenly change to the green lush paddy field where runners will find several water buffalos enjoying their day on the field. The finish line is, of course, at Laguna Phuket Resort where the event is held.
On its 10th edition, the fun marathon will feature full marathon, half-marathon, 10.5 km run, 5 km community walk/run and 2 km kids run.
The event is open for registration online which you can choose from race only or apply as a package which will only include overnight accommodation and activities but not the race.
The registration has been opened as early as June last year and it will be available for registration until 6 June 2015. Rates are different and based on early bird system.
Laguna Phuket International Marathon is not only just a sport event set in the beautiful Phuket Island, it is also a very family-oriented event where the whole family can enjoy together.
The event is said to be one of the major events that help to promote Phuket as a world destination as well as helping increase tourists flows during the green season in Phuket.
Last year, Laguna Phuket Marathon has attracted over 6,000 participants from over 50 countries across the world. This year it expects to see around 7,000 participants joining this year.
