On 4th September 2015, the world woke up to an unexpected news – that of Nikki Beach Club in Phuket announcing its closure. The announcement came without any explanation of the reasons behind such a decision.
The club’s official web page only indicated that the Phuket location is closed and urged the patrons of the club to continue to support and enjoy the other locations of Nikki Beach Club in Koh Samui or at others nine branches around the world.
Earlier this year, Nikki Beach Phuket faced a major problem that resulted from some notorious party photos that showed a drunk guy riding a baby elephant in one of its so-called “amazing Sunday Brunch”. The pictures, published on the Facebook page of the club received huge criticisms and tons of complaints from Internet users even after the immediate removal of the controversial photos on Facebook.
According to reallifephuket.com, Nikki Beach Phuket is said to have faced other issues, including a dispute with the landlord. Other speculations attributed the closure to the Club’s poor marketing strategy. A lot of customers have complained about Nikki Beach Phuket not accepting the Nikki Club Cards despite the fact that the Club is part of an international chain. When Nikki Club cardholders asked why their cards are rejected, Nikki Beach Phuket offered no explanation.
Nikki Beach Phuket was opened early last year. Nikki Beach Club started its operations in 1998 and now has expanded to nine locations around the world. Fortunately, for Nikki Beach patrons, Nikki Beach Koh Samui remains operational.
