Bophut is so near and yet so far removed from the hedonistic rush of Chaweng which lies to the south. Bophut is well-known by vacationers because of its Fisherman’s Village and pier which is home to boutiques and restaurants, many of which are upscale, in well-preserved wooden shophouses; a must-visit Samui destination. The former French outpost still retains a distinctly Mediterranean feel and the vibe in Bophut is relaxed elegance; boasting some stunning vacation villas in an area that is becoming increasingly more sophisticated and has a unique quality.
