Watching the sun go down on another glorious vacation day in Phuket is one of those sweet-spot moments where everything feels right with the world. It’s also a great opportunity to go down to the beach with your best cameras and take amazing photographs of the warm-hued skies as the sun melts into the horizon.

There’s no question that the best sunsets in Phuket happen on the western part of the island, where you can also find some of the best beaches and the most opulent private villas, not to mention a few bars and beach clubs. The temptation to grab a drink or go for a swim is strong, but all of that does not matter once you experience Phuket’s sunsets in their fullest glory.

The Best Sunset Spots in Phuket

We’ve limited our list to beaches and ocean-fronting viewpoints on the west-facing coast of Phuket, where you can find the most beautiful blazing sunsets on the island. This guarantees that you will have a picture-perfect sunset almost every single time during your visit. Note that some of the beaches mentioned here may also have public access, so you don’t have to go through a hotel or beach club to take stunning photos of the sunset.

1. Surin Beach

Surin Beach, north of Kamala is possibly one of the loveliest beaches in Phuket and boasts 800-meters of white sands. It also lacks the beachfront tourist trappings of many of the busier beach resorts making it a perfectly tranquil place. Watch as the sun seems to dip down and fall into the clear-blue waters of the Andaman on a peaceful beach that’s not too far from the hustle and bustle of Patong.

2. Kamala Beach

Sunsets aside, Kamala Beach is breathtaking and known as the heart of Phuket’s luxurious Millionaires’ Mile, where many villas are located. It’s also home to swank beach clubs like the Ibiza-style Cafe del Mar, but you don’t need to party like a rock star to enjoy the sunset here. If you’re a surfer, you may want to think about taking your board down to Kamala and riding a few waves as the skies change colors.

3. Bangtao Beach

Bangtao Beach is north of Surin Beach and is home to some of the hippest beach-club hangouts on the island, with fantastic sunset views. Again, you don’t have to go to the clubs just to get a view of the sunset; just take your camera to this expansive beach and snap away as the rays of the sun lend golden hues to the sky and the waves.

4. Promthep Cape

The west-facing Promthep Cape in the southern coast is perhaps the most popular viewpoint in Phuket, not to mention one of the best places to watch the sun set into the sea. Views from here make for envy-inducing paradise shots for social media. Yes, it does get busy at sunset, but it is definitely worth the visit. The vistas out to sea are nothing short of breathtaking, with views out to the islands of Racha Yai and Racha Noi.

5. Naithon

Naithon Beach is situated in the quieter northern part of Phuket, yet still promises the same fantastic sunset views. Peaceful with a beautifully long beach, the standout feature of this destination is its uninterrupted panoramic views of the horizon from the sands. As with Promthep Cape, don’t let its location stop you from experiencing some of the most stunning sunsets that you’ll experience during your trip.

Don’t Miss Out on Phuket’s Exquisite Sunsets

If you are a guest at any Phuket luxury villa on the western-facing coast of the island, you are guaranteed to see sunsets every afternoon, regardless of the time of year. It doesn’t matter if you’re frolicking in the waves at your beachfront villa or checking out the sunset from the infinity pool of your hilltop abode; you will always have the best view on the island to enjoy the passing of time from daylight into evening.

You can even make the sunset your own private event at the villa, where you can make arrangements for finger foods and a cold drink from your villa’s private chef and their assistants. That way, you can have a bespoke experience of the sunset without leaving your villa for a beach club.

Plan your next trip to Phuket and experience the warmth of the sunset no matter where you are on the island. Ask for recommedations on a west-facing villa, or speak to Guest Experience Services for transportation options if you don’t end up on the west coast. Once you’re in Phuket, you’ll be in for many memorable moments as the sun sets.
