Exquisite handcrafted wooden statues guard Villa Kalua’s teak wooden gate. The teak wooden gate of the villa opens up to reveal a superbly maintained lush green garden. Leading into the lobby is a bridge over a koi fish pond. The bridge also leads to a Joglo that overlooks the rice fields behind the estate and a free-form swimming pool. The garden is characterized by lush greenery and colorful flowers. Adding to the luxury and traditional ambiance of the villa are Joglos scattered all over the garden. Luxurious double day-beds and a traditional Bali parasol can be found around the swimming pool.
The villa’s lobby is a large open-plan Joglo and acts as the villa’s first pavilion. To the right of the lobby is a spacious living pavilion also set in a traditional Joglo. By definition, Joglos are traditional Javanese houses built using traditional teak wood. These traditional houses feature high-vaulted rooftops. Supporting the rooftops are ornately decorated wooden pillars. The living and dining areas have an oriental ambiance courtesy of the beautiful antiques, chandeliers, rugs, full-length curtains and ornately carved decorations. For entertainment, the living pavilion is fitted with a large flat screen TV with a DVD player and backed by surround sound speakers. Facing these flat screen TV are traditional Balinese day-beds and deep cushions. The dining area is furnished with a glass-top table that sits 8 while the kitchen features stools for guests to sit on while enjoying cocktails.
Near the rice fields is a private master suite bedroom hidden within a traditional Joglo. The bedroom’s full glass doors open up to a veranda. The interior of the master bedroom epitomizes privacy and intimacy. A leather zebra carpet covers the bedroom’s flooring while a King-size bed is at the center of the room. All the furniture in the master suite are hand crafted and so is the tasteful artwork that complements the suite’s interior décor. For guest’s convenience, the master suite is fitted with a walk-in dressing room complete with a safe and a mini-bar. A Buddha sculpture stands over a large plunge pool that makes up the suite’s en-suite bathroom.
The villa also boasts of two guest rooms tucked away inside two separate Joglos. Similar to the master suite, the two guest rooms have verandas, king-size beds, and a walk-in dressing room. The semi open-air bathrooms of the two guest rooms are fitted with rain showers and outdoor bathtubs. Guests are accorded bathroom amenities including kimonos, slippers, soap and shampoo.
The villa’s hospitable and friendly staff ensures that guests enjoy a pleasant and relaxing stay at the villa. Special requests for in-villa massage services are available. Also, a private chef is available to prepare scrumptious meals for guests on request.
Located in Umalas, the villa is only a few minutes from both Seminyak and Canggu. Also, the villa is located at the end of a lane away from the noise pollution. Thus, the villa is a peaceful and tranquil utopia that has access to Seminyak’s trendy shopping centers as well as Canggu’s hip clubs and eateries.
